TheraRetreat 2027

Making Peace with Money

For counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, coaches & other helping professionals • 5-7 July 2027 • The Glass House, Essex, United Kingdom

We all have a money story. Over three days, we’ll look at where those stories came from, how they’ve shaped the way we work and run our businesses, and which bits we might be ready to leave behind.

We’ll work towards making money feel less prickly and more comfortable, while remembering we’re at a retreat, so there’ll be plenty of rest, good food and spa time too.

Your accommodation, meals, workshops and wellness programme are included.

Make peace with money. Preferably from a sun lounger!

Money has been this slightly prickly pear following so many of us around our businesses. We know we need to deal with it, but we don’t necessarily want to get too close.

We all have money stories. They come from our families, our experiences, our identities, the work we do and the world we live in. They tell us things about what we should charge, what we’re allowed to earn, whether it’s OK to want more, what it means if we have money and what it means if we don’t.

And those stories have a habit of turning up in our businesses.

This year at TheraRetreat, we’re ready to get curious about them. We’re going to look at where our money stories came from, which ones are still useful, which ones belong to somebody else, and which ones we might finally be ready to release.

The goal is money neutrality. We want to get more comfortable looking at money, talking about it and making decisions about it, without all the fear, shame and judgement that can come along for the ride. That might change what you charge or what you want to earn. It might not. There isn’t one version of financial success we’re all aiming for.

We’ll do this carefully, recognising that we all come with very different circumstances and experiences of money, and with plenty of time and space around the work.

Because this is still TheraRetreat. We can delve into our money stories, then go for a swim. We can have big conversations, eat lovely food, have a treatment, meet brilliant people and give our brains a chance to process it all.

Hopefully, by the time we leave, money feels a little less prickly and a lot more comfortable to have around.

Physical and mental health care for Helping Professionals

Rest before Burnout

Take some time for yourself before the Burnout Bunny creeps up on you. Therapists and helping professionals have shouldered and held so many crises with clients, and now it's time for you to be looked after. Food cooked for you, a soft comfy bed and spa treatments in between workshops.

Spark Your Interest

New people, new ideas and a new location are the perfect trifecta to give you the chance to fall back in love with your business and get some new ideas about how you want it to work for you and your life.

Realign and Evolve

You've done a cracking job so far, and maybe now things need to adjust to support your next steps. With some strategy and structure, the next phase of your business could become clearer and more enjoyable for you.

What You’ll Leave With

We’re going to spend 3 days getting curious about money: where our beliefs came from, how they’ve shaped the way we work, and which ones we might be ready to leave behind. You’ll have time to explore your own money story, learn from other people’s experiences and practise talking about money where it’s ok to be uncertain and still figuring things out.

Understand Your Money Story

We’ll look at the experiences, messages and assumptions that have shaped your relationship with money, and notice where they’re turning up in your business now. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of what’s yours, what you’ve inherited and what you might be ready to release.

Get More Comfortable

We’ll practise looking at, thinking about and talking about money without immediately disappearing into avoidance, shame or judgement. The aim is money neutrality: for money to become something you can engage with more comfortably and make clearer decisions around.

Find Your Version of Enough

What do you actually want your business to provide for you? We’ll explore earning, charging, spending and security without assuming that more is always better. You’ll have space to think about what enough looks like for your life, and what that means for the business you want to run.

Expand Your Circle

Money can be surprisingly isolating, particularly when we think everyone else has it figured out. You’ll spend 3 days with thoughtful helping professionals having the kinds of conversations we rarely get to have openly while also eating lovely food, using the spa and getting to know each other.

Payment Options

This is a small, thoughtfully curated professional development experience designed to give you space to explore your relationship with money, have conversations we don’t often get to have, and get more comfortable with the financial side of your work and business. Places are intentionally limited so we can keep the group small and give everyone plenty of space to take part.

Optional Extra Night

If you’d like to arrive early and settle in gently, you’re welcome to add the optional Sunday night stay at checkout.

Payment Plans

We have a 9 month payment plan available until the end of September 2026. We will consider adding a 6 month payment plan if we still have spaces left.

The Itinerary

The schedule is thoughtfully paced and all participation is optional. You are welcome to engage in a way that honours your capacity, goals and energy. This itinerary covers the time with Tamara and Kim. Between workshops, you are free to use the facilities, book treatments, attend venue classes and spend downtime alone if you prefer. The itinerary may be adjusted to support the needs of the group.

Day 1 - Monday

11.30am-1:00pm The Money Stories We Carry (Tamara)

Intention: We all arrive with ideas about money that we’ve picked up from family, culture, our identities, our experiences and the helping professions. We’ll start by getting curious about where our own money stories came from and what we’ve learned about earning, spending, charging, having and wanting money.

Outcome: You’ll begin to recognise the stories that are influencing your relationship with money and your business today, including which ones still fit and which ones you might be ready to release.

2:30pm-3:30pm Money Conversations: Peer Circle (Tamara)

Intention: Money can be surprisingly difficult to talk about, even with other people who run businesses. Using a series of prompts, we’ll talk in pairs and small groups about our experiences, assumptions and reactions around money.

Outcome: You’ll get to know other people at the retreat while practising having more open, curious conversations about money.

Participation is always optional, and you’ll never be expected to disclose your personal financial information.

8:00pm-9:00pm Evening Event TBC

Participation is always optional.

Day 2 - Tuesday

10:30am-12:00pm Making Friends with the Numbers (Kim)

Intention: For a lot of us, the hardest part of dealing with money is actually looking at it. Spreadsheets, figures, accounts and financial admin can bring up avoidance, anxiety, confusion or the sudden urge to do literally anything else. Kim will help us notice those reactions and make the practical side of money feel much more approachable.

Outcome: You’ll build confidence looking at your business numbers, understand more about what happens when you feel the urge to avoid them, and leave with practical ways to make financial admin feel more manageable.

4:00pm-5:00pm Office Hours Q&A (Tamara and Kim)

Intention: A chance to bring together the personal and practical sides of what we’ve been exploring. Tamara and Kim will answer questions, talk through real-life business situations and help you think through anything that’s come up for you during the retreat so far.

Outcome: You’ll have space to explore your own questions around money and business, hear how other people are approaching theirs, and come away with ideas you can apply to your own situation.

8:00pm-9:00pm Peer Circle

A relaxed evening together after the day’s workshops. We’re still planning the details, but expect something social, low-pressure and enjoyable, with no spreadsheets in sight. Participation is always optional.

Day 3 - Wednesday

10:00am-10:30am Checkout of Rooms

Checkout of rooms by 10:30am. You will have full access to all facilities until 5pm.

11:00am-12:00pm What Does Enough Look Like for You? (Tamara)

Intention: After spending the retreat exploring our money stories, reactions and habits, we’ll turn our attention to what we actually want money to do for us. We’ll think about earning, spending, working, security and having enough without assuming that the answer is always more.

Outcome: You’ll leave with a clearer sense of what “enough” means in the context of your own life and business, and what you might want to do differently as a result of everything you’ve explored over the three days.

4:00pm-4:30pm Closing Circle

Intention: A chance to say goodbye to everyone and swap numbers!

Outcome: Leave the retreat with phone numbers, emails and accountability partners.

Meet Your Hosts

Tamara Howell PGDip, MSc, Reg MBACP (Accred.)

Tamara has been a therapist in private practice for 17 years, qualifying in the United Kingdom before moving to several other countries before settling in Paris, France in 2023. She has created courses, hosted workshops and webinars and runs The Practice Pod to support therapists in private practice and beyond, and is the founder of TheraBundle® and TheraSummit®, two collaborative events highlighting the work of hundreds of therapists in our field.

At TheraRetreat 2027, Tamara will be bringing together her experience as a therapist and practice mentor to help us explore those stories with curiosity, work towards money neutrality, and get a little more comfortable with the financial side of running a business.

Kimberley Simmons, Virtually Irreplaceable

Kim is amazing at lots of things that therapists aren't so great at! Planning, organising, admin - yes, the dreaded admin - are all Kim's jam and she has learned to adapt all her skills to therapists in private practice.

At TheraRetreat 2027, Kim will help us bring some of our money conversations out of our heads and into our actual businesses. We’ll look at the practical side of getting more comfortable with our numbers, making financial decisions and creating systems that make money feel easier to manage rather than something we only look at when we absolutely have to.

TheraRetreat Testimonials

"

As a therapist in private practice, sometimes things feel a bit isolating, and even more so when you've moved across the world. Making connections on the other side of the pond for me as an American was very much needed and I was very touched at how welcoming and kind everyone was. I didn't know a soul going into the retreat, and I came out of it with not only new business connections but also new friends. If you're on the fence about joining the retreat, I say hop off and go!

Allyson Clemmons 2024

"

Going on a retreat with Tamara & Kim was a deeply grounding and low pressure experience. Their guidance created a safe, nurturing space that allowed for reflection, connection, and personal growth. What I took away from the retreat was a renewed sense of clarity, rest, and renewed sense of vision for my personal & professional lives. I left with practical tools to support my well-being, a deeper connection to myself, and a reminder of the strength that comes from community and intentional pause.

Some of the highlights of the retreat were the heartfelt conversations, the supportive group energy, and the wisdom both Tamara & Kim shared so generously. Each day offered something meaningful.

Rebeca Gilbert 2025

"

I'd recommend this retreat because it offers the perfect balance between restorative, reflective, and practical content for anyone running their own therapy practice or other business in the therapy/coaching space.

Garthine Walker 2026

"

Going on a retreat with Tamara & Kim was filled with care and compassion, they consider everything and everyone. They inspire, and are gracious with their knowledge, time, and themselves.

Claire Pyer 2024

"

What I took away from the retreat was I don't have to be what everyone says I should do! I need to do what makes me happy in my professional life, as that is how I give 2000% to my clients.

Emma Gardner 2025

"

Going on a retreat with Tamara & Kim was one of the best choices I have made! It really has been transformative for me and I felt empowered to step out of my comfort zone and explore new horizons that lead to a boost in my self-confidence. It’s been incredibly rewarding to connect with individuals who are not only resilient and kind but also open and authentic. Their willingness to share their genuine selves has created a space of mutual trust and understanding, fostering deeper and meaningful relationships.

Maura Brivio 2024

"

Spacious, restorative and restful but also galvanising and inspiring through both formal workshops and rich conversations with peers. Some of the highlights of the retreat were the people and location - the glass house is a great venue and I’m quite fussy about treatments etc being a complementary health therapist who started out in beauty therapy.

Melanie Langer 2025

"

Going on retreat with Tamara & Kim was genuinely so much fun. I loved the light hearted way it was delivered yet we were really supported to move through any limitations and fears and to truly honour what we were there for. People talk about creating safe spaces but when you feel able to explore, share and laugh with ease - you know you’re safe. I’ve come away feeling more confident and really looking forward to the growth I’m hoping for by the time I return next year.

Melanie Langer 2026

"

The retreat was a restorative, connecting and thought-provoking experience; a real treat!  We were fortunate enough to have amazing weather so we could really make the most of it.  I thoroughly enjoyed the workshops, the beautiful venue, the very comfortable room, and most of all, meeting the really lovely people in our group. I loved the way that Tamara and Kim made it clear that we could spend the time exactly as we wished with no obligation to do anything, meaning that each of us could shape our own experience to suit our wants and needs. Thank you Tamara and Kim!

Elizabeth Downing 2025

"

Going on a retreat with Tamara and Kim was so wonderful. They are both very generous in terms of their time and expertise. What I took away from the retreat was that it is necessary as well as a treat for me to take time away from work and family.

Some of the highlights of the retreat were actually meeting people in person, making lovely connections, the outside wild swimming pool and the cryotherapy!

Nicola McEvoy 2024

"

Going on a retreat with Tamara and Kim was a working holiday - great workshops for professional growth and Development and plenty of time to relax and recharge for self care. Some of the highlights of the retreat were developing personally and professionally in a really calming atmosphere, with a mix of great therapists. I would definitely attend another TheraRetreat.

Tracey Slater 2024

"

Before the retreat I was looking forward to it, as it was my third time and it’s always different. After the retreat, I felt more confident in being visible. Tamara and Kim just complement each other and fit like a puzzle. The biggest surprise was speaking about my business and myself. I wanted to run away. I did it and it was a big achievement. I would highly recommend this retreat as I had no private practice, no idea about how to run one efficiently and no goal plan. Coming on these retreats feels like I’m going from strength to strength with real support and a feeling of safety.

Tracy Slater 2026

"

Going on retreat with Tamara and Kim was like hanging out with your best kooky friend group and getting the inside track on therapy career development at the same time. It was informative, practical and relevant as well as fun, relaxed and liberating.

Freddy Weaver 2026

"

Stepping away from the everyday for a 'work retreat' offered an invaluable experience. I made wonderful new connections, focused on me and my business and left the world behind for a couple of days.

Is TheraRetreat Right for You?

You don’t need to have your money stuff figured out before you come... that’s the point! But we know this retreat is an investment, and we want you to feel comfortable deciding whether it’s the right one for you.

This retreat is for you if:
  • You’re curious about your money story and how it might be showing up in the way you run your business.
  • You’d like to feel more comfortable talking, thinking and making decisions about money, without being told you should want to earn more.
  • You’ve noticed some prickly bits around charging, spending, earning, having, wanting or even looking at money and you’re ready to explore them gently.
  • You want space to do this work carefully and without judgement, alongside people who will have completely different experiences and relationships with money.
This retreat may not be for you if:
  • You’re looking for a large, high-energy conference environment with hundreds of attendees. (We've got a good recommendation elsewhere for this if you are looking!)
  • You’re primarily looking for a solo break rather than a small-group professional development experience.
  • You want someone to tell you what you should earn, spend, save or want. We’re much more interested in helping you work out what feels right for you.
  • You’re unable to step away from work or home responsibilities for these dates. (If it's this one, stay in touch for next time!)

You are welcome here

TheraRetreat is committed to creating a space where therapists and helping professionals of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences feel respected, supported, and able to participate.

We welcome attendees of all gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, ethnicities, cultures, religions, neurotypes, abilities, body sizes, and career stages. Our aim is to hold a professional environment grounded in respect, thoughtfulness, and care for the communities we serve.

If there is anything that would help you feel more comfortable or supported during the retreat, you are very welcome to reach out in advance.

Faq

I’m feeling a bit nervous about participating in a group.

We all feel nervous joining a new group and many people attending will be feeling the same.

This retreat is intentionally small and gently paced. You won't be asked to do or share anything unless you are comfortable and you won't be expected to be "on" all the time. We are professionals, but we're also in our swimwear and spa robes, so it's a very relaxed and informal atmosphere.

You are welcome to participate at your own pace. Quiet reflection, spa treatments and downtime are all part of the design.

Who is this retreat ideally for?

This retreat is designed for therapists and helping professionals who want:

  • to understand their money story and how it shows up in their work and business
  • to feel more comfortable thinking about, talking about and making decisions around money
  • space to explore what enough looks like for them, without being pushed towards someone else’s version of financial success
  • thoughtful conversations with peers who bring their own, often very different, experiences of money
  • time away from the everyday pressures of work and home to think, rest and get curious

If you’re looking for a large conference or heavily content-packed training, this probably isn’t the right fit.

We have intentionally chosen a retreat venue with excellent facilities and a spa to complement the workshops we’ll be offering. We understand the importance of doing deep professional work without pushing past your capacity, and this space is designed to support helping professionals to rest alongside their professional development.

What is the purpose of the retreat?

TheraRetreat 2027 is a 3 day professional reset focused on making peace with money.

You’ll have space to:

  • understand your money story and where it came from
  • notice how those beliefs show up in your work and business
  • get more comfortable talking, thinking and making decisions about money
  • explore what earning, charging, spending and “enough” mean for you
  • connect with other helping professionals and hear different perspectives and experiences

We’ll balance the workshops with rest, good food, treatments, movement and plenty of time to process.

The intention is that you return home understanding your relationship with money a little better, carrying a little less of the stuff you don’t need, and feeling more comfortable with the money decisions that are yours to make.

Do I have to attend everything on the schedule?

You’re warmly encouraged to engage with the core retreat sessions, but there is no pressure to participate in anything that doesn’t feel right for you or clashes with a spa treatment you would like to prioritise! You are always free to choose what you join and what you skip.

There is time built in for:

  • rest
  • spa time
  • quiet reflection
  • informal connection

This retreat is designed to feel supportive, not overwhelming. Everything is optional.

What about accessibility or additional needs?

The Glass House offers facilities for disabled guests and modern accessible amenities.

If you have any mobility needs, sensory considerations, dietary requirements, or anything else that would help you feel more comfortable, please email us before booking so we can explore what’s possible and support you appropriately.

We will also ask about this in our registration form so we can get to know you.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

All bookings are subject to the TheraRetreat terms. You can review full details here >

Refund Policy

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we strive to offer a fair and equitable refund policy, bearing in mind payment requirements of the venue.

The applicable cancellation and refund dates will be clearly stated on the relevant sales or booking page at the time of booking as follows:

If you cancel before 1 March 2027, we’ll refund payments made minus one monthly instalment, which is non-refundable and helps cover the costs and financial commitments associated with securing your retreat place. After 1 March 2027, bookings are non-refundable and any outstanding payment-plan instalments remain due. You may transfer your place to another attendee for a £100 administration fee.

Where cancellation is made by the stated refund deadline, you will receive a refund of payments made, minus any non refundable booking or administrative fee stated at the time of booking.

Where cancellation is made after the stated refund deadline, no refund will be issued. If you have not completed all payments as per the payment plan, you will remain liable for the remaining balance. This is due to the financial commitments we make in advance with our venue and other suppliers.

Transfer of Registration: If you are unable to attend the Retreat, you may request to transfer your registration to another individual. Please notify us as soon as possible if you wish to transfer your spot. Any remaining balance must be settled before the transfer is completed. Any administration fee applicable to a transfer will be stated at the time of booking or when the transfer is requested.

If you have specific concerns before booking, you’re very welcome to email and ask.

I’m coming on my own, is that ok?

Yes, most attendees come solo!

You can share a room and meet a bestie, or book your own room and spend some time reconnecting with yourself. With either option, you get a huge comfy bed and lovely room, plenty of space for yourself and opportunities to connect with others when it suits you.

Do we have to share rooms?

You don't have to but we highly recommend it!

If you choose the shared room option:

  • you’ll share with one other attendee
  • double beds are separate
  • rooms are modern and comfortable
  • we aim to match where possible (we'll ask about preferences and sleep patterns in your onboarding form)

Many people find this becomes part of the connection experience but if you know you prefer your own space or have trouble sleeping with another person in  the room, the solo room option is there for exactly that reason.
