TheraRetreat 2026

The Sustainable Practice Reset for Therapists, Coaches & Other Helping Professionals • 22–24 June 2026 • The Glass House, United Kingdom

Join our 3 day professional reset for therapists who want to build confidence being seen, expand professional connections, and return home with a clear, life-first 90 day plan for sustainable practice.

Small Group Experience • Experiential Visibility Practice • Payment Plan

Step out of the stress spiral and into the swimming pool.

I broke up with my old version of work-life “balance” and built a life-first business instead.

During the pandemic I was working from a cupboard under the stairs in the kitchen, staring at a screen for far too many hours each day while building multiple projects and supporting other therapists through courses, workshops and webinars. I slowly realised that productivity and sustainability are not the same thing. I love my business, but I knew something needed to change if I wanted to keep loving it.

Today my ideal business moulds around my life. That means I don’t work evenings. It means my schedule pauses when my child comes home for lunch. It means I don't turn on my computer on Wednesdays when there's no school (wild, I know!). It also means I am not hustling, seeing 30 clients a week or compressing everything into two frantic days. I want to live my life and earn enough to sustain it. My business works for me.

A couple of years ago I felt the need for a reset and the idea of a retreat emerged. What I needed was inspiration and strategy, time to think properly and conversations with thoughtful peers.

Rest without guilt.

And if the way to do that is professional development in a field I love, with colleagues I can't wait to meet, I'm in.

Join us for a working holiday to recalibrate your practice, deepen your professional confidence, build tolerance for visibility in a supportive environment and design the next 90 days with intention. You’ll benefit from strategic goal planning, meaningful connection with peers, and a beautiful venue that helps you to switch off when the work is done.

Physical and mental health care for Helping Professionals

Rest before Burnout

Take some time for yourself before the Burnout Bunny creeps up on you. Therapists and helping professionals have shouldered and held so many crises with clients, and now it's time for you to be looked after. Food cooked for you, a soft comfy bed and spa treatments in between workshops.

Spark Your Interest

New people, new ideas and a new location are the perfect trifecta to give you the chance to fall back in love with your business and get some new ideas about how you want it to work for you and your life.

Realign and Evolve

You've done a cracking job so far, and maybe now things need to adjust to support your next steps. With some strategy and structure, the next 90 days could become clearer and more enjoyable for you.

What You’ll Leave With

We’ll gently build your tolerance for visibility in ways that feel stretching but safe. You’ll have the opportunity to articulate your work clearly, speak about your specialism in front of peers, and receive thoughtful encouragement. You’ll leave with more clarity around how you want to position yourself professionally and the confidence to present it to new people.

Clarify Your Niche

We’ll refine how you describe what you do, who it’s for, and what makes your work distinctive. You’ll leave clearer, steadier, and less tangled in comparison.

Practice Being Seen

In a supportive setting, you’ll articulate your work, speak about your specialism, and build real tolerance for being seen without shrinking into share-shame.

Build a 90 Day Plan

You will be guided through a focused marketing and planning workshop so you return home with a realistic, life-first 90 day roadmap that you will actually want to use.

Expand Your Circle

You’ll connect with thoughtful peers who understand the nuances of this work. You'll build relationships that become collaborations and friendships.

The Itinerary

The schedule is thoughtfully paced and all participation is optional. You are welcome to engage in a way that honours your capacity, goals and energy. This itinerary covers the time with Tamara and Kim. Between workshops, you are free to use the facilities, book treatments, attend venue classes and spend downtime alone if you prefer. The itinerary may be adjusted to support the needs of the group.

Day 1 - Monday

11.30am-1:00pm The Visibility Lab: Getting Comfortable with Sharing Our Professional Parts (Tamara)

Intention: This opening workshop will help you reconnect with your “why” and refresh the language you use to describe your work. The aim is to gently support you in building tolerance for visibility while expressing your authentic professional voice.

Outcome: You’ll practise being seen, heard and known within the group, with a view to using this refreshed language in your directory listings, websites and networking conversations.

2:30pm-3:30pm Values-led Network Building: Rediscovering the Heart of Your Work (Tamara)

Intention: Through reflective exercises and sharing, we’ll clear space for your deeper motivations to guide your next chapter.

Outcome: You’ll reconnect with the values that brought you into helping work, identify what still feels aligned (and what doesn’t), and form supportive connections with fellow attendees.

8:00pm-9:00pm Peer Circle

Intention: Build a tolerance to presenting yourself and your specialism to colleagues and other professionals.

Outcome: Confidence and clarity around how to present yourself to a variety of audiences in different situations.

Participation is always optional.

Day 2 - Tuesday

10:30am-12:00pm Your 90 Day Roadmap: Redesigning Your Business with Intention (Kim)

Intention: Create a realistic, structured plan that supports your visibility and business development without overwhelm. Kim will guide you to map one focused visibility action per week for the next 90 days.

Outcome: You’ll leave with a clear, personalised 90 day roadmap that feels achievable, supportive of your capacity and aligned with your goals.

4:00pm-5:00pm Office Hours Q&A (Tamara and Kim)

Intention: Personalised support and space for specific questions. This will run in a hotseat mastermind style.

Outcome: You’ll leave with tailored guidance and greater clarity about how to move forward after the retreat.

8:00pm-9:00pm Peer Circle

Intention: Continue building confidence in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

Outcome: You’ll have the opportunity to practise sharing your work (if you wish) and strengthen peer connection within the group.

As always, participation is optional.

Day 3 - Wednesday

10:00am-10:30am Checkout of Rooms

Checkout of rooms by 10:30am. You will have full access to all facilities until 5pm.

11:00am-12:00pm Boundaries, Energy & Unapologetic Choices (Tamara)

Intention: You’ll explore what drains you and what sustains you. You’ll explore practical ways to set and maintain boundaries and make decisions that support your wellbeing.

Outcome: You’ll leave feeling grounded, connected and clear about your next steps.

4:00pm-4:30pm Closing Circle

Intention: A chance to say goodbye to everyone and swap numbers!

Outcome: Leave the retreat with phone numbers, emails and accountability partners.

Meet Your Hosts

Tamara Howell PGDip, MSc, Reg MBACP (Accred.)

Tamara has been a therapist in private practice for 17 years, qualifying in the United Kingdom before moving to several other countries before settling in Paris, France in 2023. She has created courses, hosted workshops and webinars and runs The Practice Pod to support therapists in private practice and beyond, and is the founder of TheraBundle® and TheraSummit®, two collaborative events highlighting the work of hundreds of therapists in our field.

Tamara is all about sustainability of energy, time and finance - and she helps therapists to create their own version of sustainability by redesigning their practices and implementing changes over time.

Something you'll hear Tamara say several times over the retreat: "You can be your best employer yet!"

Kimberley Simmons, Virtually Irreplaceable

Kim is amazing at lots of things that therapists aren't so great at! Planning, organising, admin - yes, the dreaded admin - are all Kim's jam and she has learned to adapt all her skills to therapists in private practice.

Through her work as a solo virtual assistant and then as an agency, Kim knows exactly what therapists are up against and how to solve our challenges.

One of the skills Kim has developed is realistic and sustainable planning, which Kim will be teaching at the retreat in a practical and experiential workshop. You will leave having designed your own individual 90 day plan, along with resources, encouragement and momentum!

Testimonials

As a therapist in private practice, sometimes things feel a bit isolating, and even more so when you've moved across the world. Making connections on the other side of the pond for me as an American was very much needed and I was very touched at how welcoming and kind everyone was. I didn't know a soul going into the retreat, and I came out of it with not only new business connections but also new friends. If you're on the fence about joining the retreat, I say hop off and go!

Allyson Clemmons

Going on a retreat with Tamara & Kim was one of the best choices I have made! It really has been transformative for me and I felt empowered to step out of my comfort zone and explore new horizons that lead to a boost in my self-confidence. It’s been incredibly rewarding to connect with individuals who are not only resilient and kind but also open and authentic. Their willingness to share their genuine selves has created a space of mutual trust and understanding, fostering deeper and meaningful relationships.

Maura Brivio

Going on a retreat with Tamara and Kim was so wonderful. They are both very generous in terms of their time and expertise. What I took away from the retreat was that it is necessary as well as a treat for me to take time away from work and family.

Some of the highlights of the retreat were actually meeting people in person, making lovely connections, the outside wild swimming pool and the cryotherapy!

Nicola McEvoy

Spacious, restorative and restful but also galvanising and inspiring through both formal workshops and rich conversations with peers. Some of the highlights of the retreat were the people and location - the glass house is a great venue and I’m quite fussy about treatments etc being a complementary health therapist who started out in beauty therapy.

Melanie Langer

Going on a retreat with Tamara and Kim was a working holiday - great workshops for professional growth and Development and plenty of time to relax and recharge for self care. Some of the highlights of the retreat were developing personally and professionally in a really calming atmosphere, with a mix of great therapists. I would definitely attend another Theraretreat.

Is TheraRetreat Right for You?

You've had a perspective shift towards a life-first business and you want to make sure this investment is a good decision before jumping in. To help you decide whether it’s the right fit, here’s a quick vibe check:

This retreat is for you if:
  • You’d like to feel more confident describing what you do without feeling salesy or performative.
  • You care deeply about your work but know your current pace isn’t sustainable long-term.
  • You want protected time away to reflect, plan, and reset — not just squeeze thinking time into the margins of your week.
  • You’re craving thoughtful professional connection with peers who genuinely understand this work.
This retreat may not be for you if:
  • You’re looking for a large, high-energy conference environment with hundreds of attendees. (We've got a good recommendation elsewhere for this if you are looking!)
  • You’re primarily looking for a solo break rather than a small-group professional development experience.
  • You are looking for a heavily content-packed training event.
  • You’re unable to step away from work or home responsibilities for these dates. (If it's this one, stay in touch for next time!)

If you would like to meet us first, you’re very welcome to book a one-to-one chat with Tamara or email us any questions.

Investment and Options

This is a small, thoughtfully curated professional development experience designed to give you space to think clearly, connect meaningfully, and return home with tangible next steps for your practice. Places are intentionally limited to maintain the depth and quality of the group experience.

Optional Extra Night

If you’d like to arrive early and settle in gently, you’re welcome to add the optional Sunday night stay at checkout.

Payment Plans

We have a 3 month payment plan available until the end of March. Please note we do not charge extra for payment plans, however we ask that you please ensure your card details are up to date so as not to create increased administrative costs chasing for payments.

You are welcome here

TheraRetreat is committed to creating a space where therapists and helping professionals of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences feel respected, supported, and able to participate.

We welcome attendees of all gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, ethnicities, cultures, religions, neurotypes, abilities, body sizes, and career stages. Our aim is to hold a professional environment grounded in respect, thoughtfulness, and care for the communities we serve.

If there is anything that would help you feel more comfortable or supported during the retreat, you are very welcome to reach out in advance.

Faq

I’m feeling a bit nervous about participating in a group.

We all feel nervous joining a new group and many people attending will be feeling the same.

This retreat is intentionally small and gently paced. You won't be asked to do or share anything unless you are comfortable and you won't be expected to be "on" all the time. We are professionals, but we're also in our swimwear and spa robes, so it's a very relaxed and informal atmosphere.

You are welcome to participate at your own pace. Quiet reflection, spa treatments and downtime are all part of the design.

Who is this retreat ideally for?

This retreat is designed for therapists and helping professionals who want:

  • space to think clearly about their work
  • support around visibility and confidence
  • meaningful connection with peers
  • time to step out of the everyday pressure of practice (and other responsibilities)

If you’re looking for a large conference or heavily content-packed training, this probably isn’t the right fit.

We have intentionally chosen a retreat venue with excellent facilities and a spa to complement the workshops we’ll be offering. We understand the importance of doing deep professional work without pushing past your capacity, and this space is designed to support helping professionals to rest alongside their professional development.

What is the purpose of the retreat?

The TheraRetreat is a structured professional reset.

You’ll have space to:

  • reflect on where your practice is now
  • build tolerance for being seen professionally
  • clarify your next steps
  • create a realistic 90 day plan
  • connect with other thoughtful therapists

The intention is that you return home clearer, calmer, and more grounded in your work.

Do I have to attend everything on the schedule?

You’re warmly encouraged to engage with the core retreat sessions, but there is no pressure to participate in anything that doesn’t feel right for you or clashes with a spa treatment you would like to prioritise! You are always free to choose what you join and what you skip.

There is time built in for:

  • rest
  • spa time
  • quiet reflection
  • informal connection

This retreat is designed to feel supportive, not overwhelming. Everything is optional.

What about accessibility or additional needs?

The Glass House offers facilities for disabled guests and modern accessible amenities.

If you have any mobility needs, sensory considerations, dietary requirements, or anything else that would help you feel more comfortable, please email us before booking so we can explore what’s possible and support you appropriately.

We will also ask about this in our registration form so we can get to know you.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

All bookings are subject to the TheraRetreat terms. You can review full details here >

Refund Policy

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we strive to offer a fair and equitable refund policy, bearing in mind payment requirements of the venue.

Cancellations made by February 28, 2026: If you need to cancel your registration, you will receive a refund of any payments made, minus a £175 administrative fee. This fee covers processing costs and helps us manage bookings effectively. If you are on a payment plan and cancel by February 28, 2026, you will be refunded the payments made, minus the £175 administrative fee.

Cancellations made after March 1, 2026: Unfortunately, no refunds will be issued for cancellations made after this date. If you have not completed all payments as per the payment plan, you will be liable for the remaining balance. This is due to the financial commitment we make in advance with our venue and their cancellation policy.

Transfer of Registration: If you are unable to attend the Retreat, you may transfer your registration to another individual. Please notify us as soon as possible if you choose to transfer your spot. Any remaining balance must be settled before the transfer is completed. An administration fee of £100 will apply.

If you have specific concerns before booking, you’re very welcome to email and ask.

I’m coming on my own, is that ok?

Yes, most attendees come solo!

You can share a room and meet a bestie, or book your own room and spend some time reconnecting with yourself. With either option, you get a huge comfy bed and lovely room, plenty of space for yourself and opportunities to connect with others when it suits you.

Do we have to share rooms?

You don't have to but we highly recommend it!

If you choose the shared room option:

  • you’ll share with one other attendee
  • double beds are separate
  • rooms are modern and comfortable
  • we aim to match where possible (we'll ask about preferences and sleep patterns in your onboarding form)

Many people find this becomes part of the connection experience but if you know you prefer your own space or have trouble sleeping with another person in  the room, the solo room option is there for exactly that reason.
